Day 12 Norway

Our big adventure

A dry morning.

Thankfully, a dry morning we packed up a hill bag and headed out. Counterintuitivly for a hill day, we dropped 200 vertical meters walking down from our parking place to the start of the trail.

We left the road, and the first thing we came across was a sign saying, “You have left the trail.” After the initial slog, we joined the tourist trail on the way there was an emergency hut slightly better than the equipment stashed near scafell.

The path becomes very steep in places, and the rocks wet from yesterday’s rain are quite slippery. Fortunately, there are chains put in to help keep you upright.

The Norwegians, like most of the European countries, have used painted rocks to show the way. Red spots, in this case, are often on small cairns. Some weren’t so little.

Cairn on the right track.

At the top, the view was outstanding, and the photos won’t do it justice.

After standing at the top of an 800m cliff, we went to find a bolder jamed in between sides of a gully. Katie jumped at the chance to get on the rock.

From here, we left the tourist trail and headed into the mountains. As we climbed, we could see the tourist trail looking like ants moving across the landscape. There was definitely a feeling of being on top of the world we could see for miles.

Climb down into a Valley and along the Valley to a large lake turning left we scrambled up the side of the u-shaped Valley and headed over another spur to reach a Hut from the hut we walked along the edge that Lake at one point the edge was so close it we were almost in the lake.

The path is there somewhere.

We walked back to the van, moved to a slightly flatter location, and had dinner a glorious sunset over the mountains, and other than the sheep trying to get in the van, it was a very peaceful night.
